Josh Suda

For my first artist research I wanted to start my controlled assignment basing my work around Heritage and my family history, looking at the theme Ancestral. I chose this artist due to the techniques and final outcome within her work that compliments her images but would still also work with my particular theme.  I liked the idea of looking at my family background finding out different information and facts about previous and present family members that I don’t have much knowledge on. I wanted to base my theme around the important moments and memories that are special to the family and have helped develop and expand us as a whole. I chosen to look at Josh Suda with his unusual style of using elder images and combining them together using black and white and original images editing them to help him achieve the style he is known for. I have looked at various pieces of his work expanding my ideas and experimentations within my project. I would like to start by collecting research and resources that my nana collected over her life period. I will also gather primary images that different members of my heritage have taken and looking at the difference between old fashioned and newer portraits. For my response for this artist I will choose particular images and edit them to achieve the colours and effect I am wanting then develop them and experiment creating hands on work ripping and tearing them related to this artist. I would also like to experiment within Photoshop to achieve similar outcomes related to Suda but using my own resources that can help my project succeed and develop.
