Statement of Intent

 

For my personal investigation I have chosen the theme of 'Exaggeration.' I have chosen this theme because I have a strong interest throughout portrait photography due to having a strong interest using lots of bright theatre makeup which can make you’re photo-shoots more interesting and pleasing to the eye.

 

To begin my project I will be taking photo-shoots of a more natural look and editing them using Photoshop to create different outcomes and experimentation. I will experiment using body paint and including art in my project to draw onto my model or paint using colours that work well and compliment each other and the models clothing and style I am wanting to achieve. I would like to concentrate on using a bold colour palette that stands out and catches you’re audiences attention. First of all I will be doing some research on certain photographers/artists that inspire me to create a similar look or effect using techniques or tutorials through Photoshop. For my theme I will need to include a lot of effort and thought throughout my shoots to capture the right ideas and theme towards my shoots to portray my theme of exaggeration. For my majority of my shoots i will focus onto the face and the shoulders of my model to bring the subject of my theme stand out. 

 

During my work i will be looking at artists such as Laura Ferriera and Rankin due to having a strong interest in their work. These artists use detail and a high quality of thought and makeup throughout their photo-shoots. Alexander Straulino uses tutorials in his work using overlay to create one image but using various images. These artists’ work link in with my theme and ideas, which inspires me due to their unusual style and individuality. 

During the project I will be using a variety of techniques throughout Photoshop and experimenting including art in my work. I will attempt including paint on top of my images to create more of a 3D look and feel to my portraiture work. I will use bold bright colours to link this style in with my theme making my work over the top and exaggerate. I will also try out various techniques which my artists have that I have chosen to look out but making my images my own by creating my own style to make our work link but my own looking at slow shutter speed to vary my style and development work.
